How do I get in the entry gate?
The keypad to enter your code is located just before the bank of mailboxes on your left.
What should I do if the gate is not operating?
DO NOT FORCE THE GATE OPEN - YOU WILL DAMAGE IT AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR COSTS. Double-check that you entered your code correctly or that your remote control has functioning batteries. If you are a short-term renter, contact your host/rental company. Residents, please let the POA know about the problem via email: topoboonepoa@gmail.com
How is trash pickup managed in the neighborhood?
There is no municipal trash service as we are outside the Town of Boone. Owners may make arrangements with private waste removal companies as needed. SECURE ANY OUTSIDE TRASH CANS AGAINST BEARS AND OTHER ANIMALS AND BE SURE THEY ARE SERVICED REGULARLY. A recommended method is described here.
What kind of vehicle is needed for neighborhood roads?
We maintain the gravel roads that provide access throughout the neighborhood. It is recommended that four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles be used in the neighborhood. This protects the road from excessive ruts due to non-4WD vehicles spinning out. During snow or ice events, we recommend using snow tires or snow chains in addition to 4WD/AWD. Our roads have steep sections with hairpin turns in places, and this steep terrain plus ice and snow can result in dangerous driving conditions.
What should I do if my vehicle gets stuck?
There are boxes or barrels of chat (coarse sand) stored at the front gate and at each of the two switchbacks on (Firetower Road/Broken Arrow Road and Running Deer Trail/Eagle Roost Run). You can use scoops of this in front of/behind your tires to improve traction and may be able to extract your vehicle yourself. If that fails, there are multiple towing services in Boone that can respond to aid you.
